Skate Kingston Skater’s Code of Conduct

Skate Kingston aims to promote a safe, supportive environment for the skating community that equally respects our common interests and our differences for all skaters to enjoy the sport and fulfill their individual goals within a team spirit.

NOTE:  The Skaters Code of Conduct applies to both activities on-ice and off-ice (including in changerooms)

  • No skater is allowed on club ice unless there is a qualified coach in attendance. This policy is set for the safety of the skaters and in accordance with club insurance coverage.
  • Skaters are expected to demonstrate respect and sportsmanship towards their fellow skaters, coaches, officials, parents, and the general public at all times.
  • Un-sportsmanlike behavior and/or abusive language towards the club, coaches, skaters, volunteers, club members or arena staff on or off the ice and/or via social media will not be tolerated.
  • Skaters are expected to follow the directions of coaches, arena staff and Skate Kingston members (e.g., SK Board Members, SK parents/guardians) during club sessions or club events.
  • Skaters will not harass, physically abuse, speak negatively about or verbally abuse fellow skaters, coaches, officials, or parents at any time.
  • If a Skater is asked by a coach, arena staff, SK member or parent to stop a specific behaviour, the Skater will do so immediately and apologize.
  • Skaters will always avoid the use of profanity.
  • Skaters, as athletes and representatives of Skate Kingston, will model appropriate behaviour on and off the ice, including on social media.
  • Skaters will not use technology or social media to disrespect, bully or exploit others.
  • Skaters will respect others’ privacy and are reminded that anything posted online can become part of the public domain permanently.
  • Skaters will not cause damage to any person’s or arena property.
  • Skaters will not access other person’s property without prior permission.
  • At team events, simulations and competitions skaters are encouraged to support their fellow skaters during their performances.
  • Skaters will not be under the influence of any alcohol and /or illegal substances during skating sessions and events.
  • Skaters are expected to follow all rules in this document. Failure to abide by these rules may result in the suspension of skating privileges.
