Skate Ontario Concussion Policy

In accordance with the policies of the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Skate Ontario has developed a Concussion Policy for the sport of figure skating in Ontario.

Skate Ontario has released Code of Conduct forms to help parents and athletes understand and prevent concussions and concussion related injuries.

The below Skate Ontario Policy outlines a process for immediate removal of a skater who is suspected of having sustained a concussion

SKATE ONTARIO REMOVAL FROM SPORT PROTOCOL

If a skater is removed from practice/competition because of a suspected concussion, they will not be allowed to return to practice/competition until cleared to do so by an appropriate health care provider. Skate Ontario’s Return to Sport protocol has been included below.
