Skate Kingston’s qualifications for the STAR A, B & C are based on STAR points outlined below and above.

  1. 1. A skater that has completed at least COMPLETE CanSkate Stage 4 (all 3 ribbons), or any ribbons in stage 5 or 6, may either continue in CanSkate or do Pre-STAR if interested in figure skating.

 

  1. Pre-STAR skaters have achieved at least COMPLETE CanSkate Stage 4 (all 3 ribbons), working on stage 5 & 6 CanSkate and beginning to work on STAR 1 tests.

 

  1. STAR A skaters have 1-4 STAR points AND MUST HAVE achieved COMPLETE CanSkate Stage 6 and have at least 1 STAR test.

 

  1. STAR B skaters have 5-15 STAR points AND MUST HAVE COMPLETED at least ALL STAR 1 tests for Freeskate, Skills and Dance.

 

  1. STAR C skaters have at least 16 STAR points AND MUST HAVE COMPLETED all parts of STAR 4 Freeskate, STAR 6 Skills (Senior Bronze) and STAR 6 (Senior Bronze) Dances.

POINT SYSTEM: each COMPLETE STAR test is worth 1 point.

Skaters can have different levels (points) for the different disciplines of FreeSkate, Skills and Dance – but must have certain overall total points for qualification for the STAR A, B & C (see matrix above). In addition to the total points to be on a session, skaters must have completed certain tests to qualify.  For example, to qualify for STAR B the skater must have completed all STAR 1 tests for FreeSkate, Skills and Dance for a total of 3 points; in addition the skater must have completed at least two STAR 2 tests for an additional 2 points (5 points in total).
